Hi all,
I have a client who is running a Microsoft Small Business Server 2008 with Mac clients. We've installed Office 2011 on all the Macs and connected them to Exchange server - no problem! That said one of the users has a separate, external IMAP account which she needs to retain access. If I set her up as a local user on the Mac (aka she does not logon with the domain account which has her home folder map to the server), Outlook works with the Exchange and IMAP accounts configured, no problem. That said, when she logs on with the domain account (with home folder mapped to a server share), Outlook keeps crashing as soon as the IMAP account is configured. It just gives us an error along the lines of "Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to be restarted"... I can find no other details being logged other than that rather unhelpful message.
I have been able to replicate this error on all the Macs, under different user’s accounts, by using test IMAP accounts. Outlook just does not seem to like any accounts other than native Exchange accounts when home folders have been remapped.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues? Can anyone shed any thoughts on what I might do to get to the bottom of this? Because the users hot desk, there is a need to map home folders to the server.
Cheers,
Rob
