Hi,

I have a laptop user, who was connected wirelessly and it went down.

They have reconnected via RJ45 and back again via wireless, only now Outlook refuses to connect to exchange via either method of connection to the network.

All other users are running Outlook fine, and he can access all other network shares and ping the server no problem.

It's just his Outlook that keeps coming up 'disconnected' in the bottom right and won't connect.

How can we get his Outlook reconnected?

Have a look if you have the "Work Offline" option selected.

Not sure where it is in 2010 but in 2007 it's under the File Menu.

Tried that, clicked offline, then clicked it again, but it just goes 'Connecting...->Disconnected'

Also tried going into the account settings and changing the connection option to manual as per a thread I found on Google, but that didn't work either, I put it back to automatic but still it won't connect?

Still checking the obvious but is the machine connected to the network correctly, can you see the rest of the network properly, (Shared Drives, Servers, Internet)

Hey dhulbert,

Yup, i did mention this in the first post, all network shares , resourses, printers , MS Word or Powerpoint & MS Access all with network shared docs etc. work fine, just Outlook refused to work.

I just rang the user to see if it was still a problem and aparently @ 2hours after it stopped working it just started working again (nice of them to let me know!).

All a bit bizzarre really , but we have found Office 2010 is very unstable, if people think going from 2003 - 2007 was bad, beleive me 2010 is worse!

Powerpoint has been driving our marketing team crazy, keeps crashing and not working properly, MS Access has had controls / activeX components removed so your apps need re-writing and now this Outlook glitch.

Perhaps it's related to being connected to an SBS 2003 server , and might work better if we had SBS2008 with Exchange 2010 , who knows. Maybe SBS 2011 is just round the corner, I've been promised a server upgrade for two years now, so I won't hold my breath.

It's crazy, but a fact; Mircosoft is not compatible with Microsoft!

Sorry, Don't spot that in the first post.

Not crazy, just about standard for MS. I spend ages, shifting data beween access, excel, SQL server and things that work in 1 don't work in others, functions with different syntax, etc etc
