Hi All,
Apologies in advance for this. I had a pretty good search around the net and this forum, but couldn't quite see the solution out there (if one exists).
Ok so I am wondering if anyone out there has managed to use to outlook for their email client and been able to share local folders between two computers. The basic problem is my bosses small business runs several email address using windows mail as a client (under windows vista). We are in the process of trying to update this towards running a new build PC with Windows 7/8 and ideally outlook.
The problem at the moment is the inbox is 13 gig on disk (using a POP3 server - so everything stored locally). Ideally we would switch to an IMAP server, however it seems a bit silly to paying out for the hosting for this when a lot of it is Archive but still has to be kept.
So, the sticking point at the moment, is that we could put older email into a local folder archive folder. However in the switch to IMAP we also want a laptop to be able to view and edit the archive folder as well. To my knowledge this is not possible in Outlook without an exchange server, does this sound correct? Being that there are only 2 computers in the office, running an exchange server would be a bit overkill.
Has anyone got any ideas?
Thanks for reading in advance, and any replies are greatly welcomed.
Thanks again,
Marky Mark.
