Hi

I have a laptop with Outlook 2007 and Vista sp2.

Once I have established a vpn connection and then open outlook 2007, I am unable to connect.

I can ping the name of the server
I can ping the ip of the server
I can see mapped network drives

I have added FQDN to the host file pointing to the exchange 2003 box.

Has anyone come across a similar problem before. I have reinstalled a number of times, removed the anti-virus etc, blank machine with just office 2007 installed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Hello,

It sound strainge, but within outlook please use IP adres instead or add the fqdn to your local hosts file.

Other thing what can be checked. Is the VPN subnet other then your local subnet? If not, this problem also occurs.

Thanks for the reply.
I have used an ip address in outlook and I have added the fqdn to the local host and yes it is on a different subnet

Thanks for the help

Sorry meant to add. This is still not working

Thanks

Are there any firewall rules on the VPN endpoint devices (or concievably on the exchange server itself) that might be preventing the connection from a [foreign] subnet?

Thanks for the response. Yes, we have a firewall. Strange thing if I create a new outlook profile and then try connect it works, then if I shut down the pc and try again it is unable to connect. Really really frustrating. I have reinstalled again. RRRRRR

Thanks for the help once again
