outlook 2007 very slow to attach hyperlink

I posted this on a MS forum, no luck. so I post here

here is the problem

I got a problem with a user's outlook 2007. it is running on windows 7 pro. the problem is when she inserts a UNC hyperlink, the outlook is very slow to bring up the folder list on the remote server. she connects to the server via pptp-vpn.

however explorer opens file folders much faster on the fileserver.

any ideas how to speed this up?

additional info regarding this problem:

one user said she didn't have this problem with windows xp. I tried my windows 2003 + Office 2003, it did fare bit faster
