Outlook 2007 - unread RSS items marked as read

For some unknown reason, random new RSS items are marked as read even though I've never opened them. I'm using Outlook 2007 without an Exchange server or any other kind of server that might interfere with my RSS feeds.

In case it helps to know... I subscribe to only one feed at this time: "SnapFiles latest freeware additions and updates" ( I don't know if this issue is specific to the particular feed, or if it occurs in all feeds.

Any ideas?
