Is there a way to trigger the envelope icon that appears in the system/notification tray when new mail arrives (and stays) in your Inbox folder?

When I receive new mail, I have some rules set up to move certain messages to certain folders. When they are just moved to another folder, the system tray envelope disappears. I want that icon to stay in the system tray until I have actually read all of the unread messages.

I was thinking that I would try to create a macro that would at least turn on the envelope icon after new mail had been moved to another folder by one of my rules. My only problem is that I can't figure out the file/object involved in this.

Does anyone have any ideas? Can this even be done?

PPettit,
I would do a search using the keywords [tt]Shell_NotifyIcon mail[/tt].

This is one of the hits and could be reversed to do what your looking for.
Happy Codings: Visual Basic > Internet Web Mail Stuff.

Hope this helps,
CMP

This looks it could be a step in the right direction. Thanks, CMP.
