Serious issue and hope someone can help. Some reason the workstation got locked (username and password were grayed out). I know the pst file was there before i rebooted, but I've noticed a .tmp file with the same name as the PST file. When the system came back up, the both files were gone. I am desperately trying to get the .pst back.
i've restore the system to a previous day (last friday) but no success.
i've used getdataback 4.0 but it doesn't find any deleted files of that type .tmp or .pst.

What else can i do?

thanks in advance

Are you sure that the user profile that you're using is the original (C:\Documents and Settings\username if using XP)? If a user profile becomes corrupt a new profile is created which would explain why your .pst file disappeared and why GetDataBack doesn't find any deleted files.

Hope this helps.

Thanks cmeagan656 for your reply. My PCs are partitioned with c: OS and applications and d: as the storage location including users profile. The profile did not get corrupted. If that happened I would have gotten a clean profile. On desktop there are several files. These files would have been missing if a new profile was created.

I am still puzzled as to why this file is completely gone. I've scan the drive with several other software with very little success. This sucks.

I am considering data doctor but not sure if they can do any better.

When you were searching for the pst file did set the search to search hidden files and folders?

Hope this helps.

absolutely. i've used windows search 4.0 as well which is sucks but in my situation pulled every possible combination (hidden or not) but not the file i was looking for.
