Hi there,

is there a way I can set a property in Outlook 2007 that will delete a message from my Inbox after say, 8 days?

I guess if nobody here knows how, it just can't be done [wink]

Outlook 2007

1.Open Outlook.

2.From the Tools menu, select Account Settings.

3.Your email account appears

4.Click on your email account to highlight it, then click the Change button.

5.Click the button More Settings. In the lower right-hand corner. The Internet Email Settings box appears.

6.Click the Advanced tab.

7.Under the Delivery section: Clear the check box Leave a copy of messages on the server if you do not need to save mail on the server. If you would like to leave messages on the server, please check the box Remove from server after, and click the arrows to specify the number of days or weeks emails should be saved. Such as never save email on the server for more than 7 days.

8.Click OK, then click Next, and then click Finish. Click Close to return to the email program.

Thanks traycee, but for some reason my Outlook doesn't have a Delivery section on the Advanced tab in step 7 [sad]

Where else might I find it?

Traycee's method would only remove the e-mail from the server it would not remove it from your Outlook Inbox as thos items have already been downloaded from the server. Also, we're assuming that you are using POP3 and not and Exchange Server. Is that correct?

I do not know of any way of doing what you are asking except maybe by using VBA. Have you tried posting your question in the VBA Visual Basic for Applications (Microsoft) forum7

Hope this helps.

Hi cmeagan656 [smile]

Actually, I am using Exchange Server; is that a further bar to doing this?

You may still be able to do it but it would definitely need to be by using VBA. Repost in the VBA Visual Basic for Applications (Microsoft) forum that I linked to above and be sure to mention that you are using Exchange and what version it is.

Hope this helps.

It's a work computer network, so I'm almost certainly not going to be allowed to do it with VBA [sad]

But thank you all for your help, and Merry Christmas! [xmastree]

Have you asked your work IT people if it can be done? If policy permits what you are trying to do then they may be able to set it up for you.

Hope this helps.
