Outlook 2007 not processing tag

I have seen some articles posted on the web about how outlook 2003 and 2007 are using Mircosoft Word to render HTML emails. However, it doesn't seem to explain the problems that I have.

I have some email reports where the format is completely messed up by the fact that Outlook 2007 is not processing <br> tags and hence information that I want on separate lines is displaying as one long line of text.

Does anyone know any way around this?
