Outlook 2007 contacts mess
We have copied “Pattis” outlook 2003 master contact list to a .pst file on the server.
We want to import that into outlook 2007.
In doing so I ended up with a new thing called “Pattis xxxx in personal folders” that is the actual name of it.
I think they also got dumped into the main contacts list too.
Since there are over 500 of them and distribution lists too and I don’t know which is which anymore. What’s old etc.
I “CANNOT” delete or screw up the “bosses” 2007 contact list in the process.

How can I bring in the Pattis Contacts and specify its name into a separate contact area?

This is a suggestion and I'm not 100% sure it will work.
1. backup the existing mess so you can go back to the mess in case you make a bigger mess.
2. Change the contacts view to Phone List. Add all the contact fields to the view (Right click, use the Field Chooser).
3. Make sure to include the Created field (date created).
4. Select all the all-fashioned way, Ctrl+A, copy, dump it into Excel via Ctrl+V (paste)
5. In Excel, sort by created date to separate the new ones (with the same date, of the improt) and the old ones. Split into two separate Excel files.
6. Import each Excel file to the proper Contacts folder.

Just a thought. Use my suggestion at your own risk and don't blame me for any potential mess.
