Hello, I have a distribution list named "friends" in outook with 3 names (carlos, james and alex). If I send an email and enter the distribution list in the bcc column then the people that receive the message will not see the members of the distribution list, they will only see their names in the "to: field"...this is great....however when i compose a message for the distribution list is there a way for outlook to enter in the body of the message the persons first name?? for example it would say

email 1:

Dear Carlos:

content...

email 2:

Dear James:

content...

Dear Alex:

content...

I would like for the message to look more "personal" and do not want to do it manually every time...

Thanks!

If you have your friends as contacts and not just as entries in a dist list, either create a View that is the contacts you want to send, or multi-select the contacts, then:
Go to Contacts
Tools > Mail Merge

Tell it that you want to merge to email then fill in the subject. Word will then launch.

Choose Insert Merg Field and select First_Name.

When you're done writing the email, click 'Finish and Merge'

Note: You can't mail merge a dist list.
