Just started using Outlook 2007, and imported data file from another app - everything (Calendar, Contacts, To-do List, etc) fine except for one particular Calendar Reminder.

Keep getting the error message "Cannot turn off the reminder. You may be reminded again. The end date you entered occurs before the start date"

The Reminder refers to an event 66 months ago(!) that is no longer in Outlook - so the event has been deleted but the Reminder keeps appearing!

Any help and/or guidance would be greatly appreciated

I've never heard of that before but since it says the end date is before the start date, have you tried editing that event and giving it a different end date - like tomorrow?

JP:

As I have said in my text, the Event no longer exists, it has been deleted so can not be amended. The error message has to be attributable to a measure of corruption, but the question here is how to resolve the corruption

What happens when you double click on the reminder?

Okay -

A quick Google search on that error message yielded the answer.

Download MFCMAPI tool from

1. Run MFCMAPI on the desktop
2. Go to Session->Logon and Display Store Table
3. Select your profile
4. Select Mailbox
5. Expand "Root Container"
6. Right click “Reminders" and select "Open Contents Table"
7. New Window Launches with Title Reminders
8. Select all the reminder items listed there, Right click and select "Delete Message"
9. Close MFCMAPI

JP:

Spot on and thanks. I downloaded the app and ran it as instructed, deleting all the reminders. Unfortunately every event with a reminder attached, whether in the past or in the future, was deleted. No worries - I restored the OUTLOOK1.PST file, checked that all the events were displayed, waited for the offending reminder to appear, ran the MFCMAPI app, searched for the offending reminder, deleted it and everything is back to normal

Very grateful for your help
