hi all, i needed to backup my bosses address book so i searched for the *.pab, as microsoft tells you only to find nothing at all in the bosses personal folder & computer!

after more investigation i have found that he at no time in the past 2 years created contacts and saved them to his address book, what he has done and been doing is typing the first letter of who he wishes to send email to and scrolling down to the right address in the to: line.

anybody know how to save all theses addresses quickly?
I have set a task for a app to sit there type a, b ,c and save contacts to address book.. it going to take a while!!!

The names are stored in the Outlook Nickname cache (on XP it should be at C:\Documents and Settings\(userid)\Application data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.nk2).

There is nothing, as far as I know, supplied by Microsoft that can help you but there appears to be a third party product called Ingressor Desktop that offers a free trial - I know nothing of it so cannot comment further.

Enjoy,
Tony

A second thought .. if all you want to do is back up the data, you could just save the .nk2 file. You only need to copy the addresses if you want them as contact items (which would, of course, be sensible, but is, technically, a different issue).

Enjoy,
Tony
