Hi Everyone,

We have an issue where a user reports slow opening of emails from one particular contact. Upon investigation, I have found that the email contains a link to a page on the contacts intranet. The email takes around 30 - 45 seconds to open and unfortunately the contact is unable to remove the links as it is part of their signature.

Is there any way of disabling this behaviour in Outlook 2003 whereby it attempts to verify/open the links within an email?

I've changed the automatica download settings but there is no difference. Another user who has Outlook 2007 and receives emails from the same contact doesn't have the issue....

Any help will be greatly appreciated

You don't say what kind of server you have. If it's Exchange, then what happens when the problem user opens it in OWA?

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.

Maybe security/antispam software is involved & trying to verify links when emails are opened. Are both users running the same security software?

I would try disabling antivirus/antispam email scanning temporarily and see if it helps.

Does the same delay occur when running in safe mode with networking?
