Outlook 2003 rich text doesnt animate animated gifs 1

I am using Outlook 2003/Exchange 2003.

- If I create and email an HTML email containing an inline animated gif, I receive it and can view the animation.
- If I create and email a Rich Text email, I cannot.

(I am using Word to view emails.)

Is this normal?

Sorry, Rich text was designed for text. It is sort of a bonus that you can do as much as you can with it.
