When you try to open Outlook 2003, it immediately says "Microsoft Office Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

We have uninstalled Outlook and reinstalled, which did not change anything. All other Office programs seem to work without a hitch.

If you go to the event viewer, it either has the following message or one similar: "The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source ( Microsoft Office 11 ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: outlook.exe, 11.0.5510.0, 3f1380f0, mspst32.dll, 11.0.5604.0, 3f314872, 0, 0001c149."

So, the event does not give me anything to go on. Also, does anyone know why I get the above message? I have never seen a message that tells me the description cannot be found.

Does anyone know what may be causing Outlook 2003 to crash upon opening or why the event description cannot be found? Thank you in advance for any help or advice you may have. It is greatly appreciated.

If it refuses just slap it around al ittle and see if it comes to it's senses. OK, enough of joking.

Once again... I don't use Outlook, but know a little bit of stuff owing to helping others with it.

Try recreating the Mail profile.
