I currently have four email accounts, all running on Outlook 2003. They all connect to the same pop3 server.

Upon opening Outlook, I am prompted with a drop-down list which Account I wish to access. I select it, fill in the pertinent password associated with the account, and I'm golden- but I'm really not golden.

I can select another account while logged in to my account and navigate through the inbox without being prompted for a password.

Is there anyway to safeguard against this, possibly without having to set up multiple Windows XP OS accounts?

Thanks in advance.

All accounts must be set up in this copy of OL.

You could setup 3 user accounts for XP user1, user2, & user3.

Then set up a single mail account while beingf user1.

Switch users (start logoff) to user2, setup OL with another email & same for user3.

You now have 3 XP logons and 3 OL accounts each with one email.

This does not require a reboot to switch.

Ahh, thanks for the reply.
Is there a way for 2 users to share a single account?

Are you on a net with an Exchange Server??

Oh, if not...

You want 2 people to share one POP3 accnt or 1 OL accnt?

One POP3 account.

I don't know why there would be a reason to share a POP3.

If this is like a info or support email address, you could set the client to leave the mail on the server. If these 2 users are not on the same PC. If on the same PC but with different logons select one user and redirect the mail store DB to the location of the other. (Share the same mail DB)

Its a joint account, like a "Jack and Jill Smith" account. Jack has his own email, Jill has hers, and Jack and Jill share one (not my idea, believe me). Furthermore, Jack wants his work email account as well (this one is exchange). Is this strange scenario possible?

As long as each user has their own logon and 'roaming' profiles are not required(they logon at their own PC) this is fairly easy to accomplish. Mail store for shared pop3 loacated centrally, both users account point this account there.

If roaming more complicated.

his work email account as well (this one is exchange)
Missed this...

As you are MIS, and if this net is/has a URL, you might consider enforcing that all mail be delivered to/through the exchange server.

I think I have everything I need to know on this. Thanks, rvnguy, for your awesome help. I'll let you know how it went.

Yes, Please post back with how you get on.

BTW: The place where I have seen this(shared account) in a business is where there is an email like 'support@" or 'info@'
And more than one individual can respond. Don't know if your Jack&Jill situation is similar or not
