When i share a mailbox the user given owner rights cannot open the mailbox. The only way i can share the mailbox is the share the items (Inbox, calendar etc.) in the mailbox individually. I dont have access to the Exchange server. Why is this the case?

Contact your system admin to ensure you have full access to the mailbox.

Go to tools>email accounts>next>change>more settings>advanced tab>add then the name of your mailbox

From memory you give access to the person you want to use the mailbox and then you have to individually asign them access to the folders you want. The initial access is so they can connect to the mailbox the second access is so they can see the folders you want to share.

Dublklik is correct you assign at the top of the mailbox - username then each subfolder underneath. Delegates is another option but this will assign just the inbox and not any subfolders under the inbox. Nor will it do sent items

Ok thanks. By just adding another user in mailbox rights on Exchange would have so much easier.
