Hello,

I have a user that his mailbox is over 2GB. His getting the message saying that his mailbox is over the limit size and to delete. Because his mailbox is over 2GB, he is unable to synchronize all his mail to an OST and unable to view most of them offline.

What is the best solution for this user? Can I archive mail to a PST? If so, when I import PST to his inbox, wouldnt the OST size still be over 2GB?

Any ideas?

If this is on a network archive to his home directory or as a last resort to his local drive.

OST = Offline storage which is a replica of what is held on the exchagne server.

PST = Person storage which is mail REMOVED from the exchange server and stored elsewhere.

If you move docs to a pst then they will be removed from the excahge store and therefore the OST.

Personally I would;
First see if there are large attachments and remove them or put them in a folder called Large Mail and DO NOT store this offline. Select some non essential folders to also be stored offline.

With 2003 there are reg hacks that you can use to ignore the limits but you'll be in the same boat pretty quick so I would try to get the user to manage their mail better.
