Outlook 2003 doesn't use Message-IDs?

I'm stunned... after a little bit of research, I've learned that Outlook 2003 doesn't insert a Message-ID with an outgoing email. If you use Exchange Server, then it DOES apply a message-id, but Outlook, on its own, does not.

Some recipients' spam filters check for the existence of a message-id, and if one is not present, then it's rejected or relegated to a junk folder... and the sender is not notifed of a failed delivery.

How can I continue to use Outlook if I can't be even reasonably sure that my emails are being delivered?

Is there a fix for this? Should I simply go to Mozilla or some other email client?

Go to tools, options, security. look for the check box that says add digital signature to outgoing messages. Then click on the settings tab located below it and get an ID.

Thanks for your reply... just to confirm: Is a digital signature THE SAME THING as a message-id, or does "digital signature capability" simply include a message-id?

I'd like to be specific since it appears that getting a digital signature costs $.

thanks

I may have answered my own question... I got the 60 day free trial from Verisign, and, nope... a message-id is not included. Still looking for answers.
