Couple of weeks back the main exchange server collapsed. A hardware company repaired it and most of it is up and running. I've got a user with XP and Outlook 2003 that's getting problems since the server came back.

He was unable to connect to exchange thru OL2003. At first I thought is was working offline but it has disconnected in the bottom right corner. If I tried to connect it fails. I tried to delete his mail profile but that's made matters worse!! Now when I try and create the mail profile I get the following error message "The connection to the exchange server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action"

I've looked and searched. My head is sore. I need lunch and sleep.

If anyone could be so kind to let me know what could be causing this I'd be more than grateful.

Robert

On that PC, check both DNS and WINS lookup to the server. Check / change / remove and hosts and lmhosts file entries.
