Outlook 2002 only rec. does not sent email 1

Microsoft Outlook 2002 receives email but will not send it out, prgm was working fine up unit 5/25/05. After that date I could no longer send emails only receive them . I am using a router Linksys 4 port and networked w/one cmpt. I ‘m running XP pro and have Xp on my slave drive. Tried that drive w/same results. I have tried everything I know w/no results. I was thinking of disconnecting my router and go directly to the cmpt and see what happens. Did a virus scan and all ok, run adware prgm and all ok. Any help would be appreciated.

See if temporarily disabling that e-mail checking component of your antivirus software changes anything.

Did you move outlook onto another PC? Or chg the "Outgoing Email Server" setting? Most POP providers will not allow you to send email except from the IP address that the account is under. i.e. you cannot take those settings home, setup outlook there and send email. If this is not the issue, I would call your email provider and they will certainly get you running.

I was sending and receiving up untill5/25/05, then on 5/26/05 I could only rec & not send. No I did not make any changes but I will call cable and see if they can solve my problem. Right now if I want to send email from this acct. I go on the internet optonline web mail and send out email from their w/no problems.

This is the error msg. I get when I try to send mail in Outlook 2002.

ERROR MSG

Task mail-hub.optonline.net sending & receiving reported error (0X80042109) Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this msg. contact your server Adm. or Internet service provider (ISP)

After exhausting all avenues on sending email. I took your advice and called my ISP (cable) and they did change my pop (3) email acct outgoing. I ask why I can rec & not send he stated they did not change the incoming pop (3) yet. I asked why he did not send out a notice and he said they have a virus and do not open any mail from optonline.net (cable). Thanks for your help and efforts as they paid off.
