Outlook 2002 error 80042108

I have a computer here. It has 2 email accounts (POP3). One POP3 account works like a charm. The other one will not receive messages and gives me an error of 80042108.

I've tried turning off the firewall. It doesn't work.

I've disabled antivirus. That doesn't help.

Other people can connect to this POP3 server just fine. DNS settings have been verified (using tracert, etc).

The userid and password are correct.

I've tried starting Outlook 2002 in safe mode.

What else could I be missing? Thanks!
 
I know it sounds silly but, maybe you have a typo in the incoming server name?

Or, maybe there's a network connection problem and it delays name resolution. Try this:
Go to your email account settings
Open Email Accounts and click on "More Settings"
Then click Advanced and in the box "Outgoing server (SMTP)" type 587.
Then OK and restart Outlook.


If this fixes it, check the network cable, maybe it's bad, or release/renew the IP address. Sometimes, that works for me.
