Hi,

We have a problem whereby in our Microsoft Exchange enviroment we have 2 users using Outlook 2001 (exchange client) on Apple Macs running OS9.

They are attempting to email JPEG files to a particular company who are using Outlook 2000, not in an Exchange enviroment.

When the Outlook 2000 user receives the email, the email only has winmail.dat files at attachments instead of the JPEG files it was sent with.

Does anybody know what may be the cause of this problem ?

The problem, is that the sending client is Outlook 2001 and I think that it is only capable of sending as RTF Rich Text Format so without this option I think we are stuck.

I know 2001 automatically converts HTML messages to RTF, but I would be very suprised if it cannot send send plain text.
Have the sender check the Tools > Options > Mail format section.

[cheers] & all the best.

Or get Exchange to convert all outgoing internet smtp email to plain text. (except for domains you know can read RTF format emails.)
