I recently had to build a new pc here. The old one still has all the emails of the person I am upgrading this for, but the export option on the Outlook 2000 deal isnt working. It wont come up without errors, no matter what I try. So, I have installed Outlook 2000 to the new computer and installed the old hard drive to the new system as a second drive. Now I want to copy the .dbx files over from the old system to the new to retain this guy's emails, contacts, and folder lists. However, I cannot find them like you would find Outlook Expresses (in the Windows/Identities folder). Can someone please help me find the files to copy over for him. Thanks!!!

OE uses .DBX files. Outlook uses PST files for personal folders and PAB files for a personal address book. The mail if it is being stored locally on the machine will be in a PST file.

See if you can find the PST files and then you would add them to Outlook via TOOLS - SERVICES joegz

For Outlook 2000 just goto tools Import Export. A window should come up. You should choose the Export to a file option. Then click next. Another window should come up and you should chose Personal folder file (.pst), click next.

Click on Personal Folders at the top and make sure you check off Include subfolder at the bottom. It is then going to ask you where you would like to store theese files. Type in the path and that is where you can find the .pst file that you need to import.

I believe if you want to get any of the e-mails,clander, ect out of outlook you have to export it to a file.

Just copy the pst file into the windows directory(win95/98) and thats that.
