Outlook 2000 takes forever to check name

Hello all. I have a machine that takes forever to ckeck the name when you are setting up a mailbox. Also when you open it up it says that the exchange server is unavailable. I know better. All this stuff started happening after said machine was infected with Nimbda. Now mail won't work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Office 2000 standard, Office Small Busieness SR1, Office Premium and Office XP, nothing works. I know that the connection is good. Internet works fine. What could it be? Thanks a million for any help.
