Hello,

I've been INUNDATED for the past week with blank emails.

The "Sender" line is blank; the "Subject" line is blank; and the "Body" of the email is blank. This has been VERY irritating. They are all 1KB in size.

Does anyone know how to set up the email Rules Wizard in Outlook 2000 so that it automatically deletes emails that have a "blank" sender line?

I have tried some email spam programs, but none of them seem to work regarding this problem.

I'm adding an attachment of a Screen Shot of my email "In Box" so that you can see what I'm talking about.

Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thank you in advance.

Here's some rule logic that you might want to read. It's mostly for OE, but the same concepts generally apply: thread605-1082593

For your case, 2 rules will be needed and in this order. The wording/options might not be exact, because I don't have Outlook 2000 here.
1. Check when messages arrive, with specific words in the senders address, stop processing more rules. (Set the specific word to @ or .)
2. Move messages to junk folder (or wherever)

This should work because all legitmate sender addresses should have an "@" or "." When this is encountered, rule processing stops. If rule processing continues (because there's not a legitimate sender address), then messages will be moved to your junk folder.

Thank you, smah, for your advice. I set up the rules that you suggested. I'm attaching a screen shot of what they look like. Now I just have to wait to get one of those annoying "blank" emails to see whether or not this works.

As you can see in the attachment, the first rule says, "Apply this rule after the message arrives with @ in the sender's address," "Stop processing more rules."

The second rule says, "Apply this rule after the message arrives," "Move it to the Deleted Items folder."

In other words, if the senders email does NOT contain "@," the email will go to my deleted folder.

As I said, I hope this works. I will keep my fingers crossed. Once again, thank you for your help.
