One of my users is receiving the following error message when trying to print a message from within Outlook 2000:

Cannot print unless an item is selected. Select an item and then try and print.

The issue is that there is an item selected!

I have tried to print through a local printer and a networked printer, doesn’t make a difference.

I also tried printing through different screens, the preview pane, fully opening the message, and just having the message highlighted.

I think it may be a missing or damages Outlprnt files. Check to see if that file is present. If it is present compare the size to one one your PC.

Depending on the OS being used that file can be in a different location but is generally under the profile folder for the client.
