Greetings all,

Under my "Services" and "Addressing" set up in Outlook, I have three address lists layed out: Global Address List, Contacts, Clients. Does anyone know if Outlook goes through all address lists in the list before resolving names? Basically I'm trying to allow my workers to type in a partial name and be able to right click on that partial name and get a list from all three address lists to show matches.

What's happening at the moment is that only the first "Global Address List" is being used for Name Resolution, showing only one guy's name (even though there are matches in the other two address lists as well). However, if I move the "Clients" address list into first place, then Outlook only looks through there.

Is this just how Outlook is or am I missing a config. setting somewhere?

Any help would be most appreciated.

It basically checks until it finds a match then stops. So because it finds a match or a close enough match in the GAB it stops searching. It won't search all lists and give you options for all of the lists.

If you enter the full name you will have better results than using partial names. joegz

Forgot to mention that MS inclued the AutoComplete feature in Outlook 2002 which makes this easier than the Name Resolution feature in previous versons of Outlook.

AutoComplete remembers previous names you entered so partial name resolution is more successful. joegz
