I am in a horrible situation. I had a clients hard drive that was wiped and reformatted. After all was said and done, the client stated that they didn't back up their outlook contact list. So I need to figure out some way to get the list back. I am able to retrieve information off the drive, but I have no idea where the contact list is stored when it has't been exported. Anyone know where the raw data file is that stores the contact list? HELP!

Isn't the contact list stored in the *.pst file? Look for a
file with the extension pst. You may get two or more. Archive.pst is one and my main pst file is 13MB and called mailbox.pst you may have several if you had different profiles setup on your machine. Klae

You're only as good as your last answer!

Does anyone know what addressbook.dat is associated with?

See my FAQ for more info on "how to back up..."

addressbook.dat for me is dated 4/8/01 and that is probably when I reformatted my PC and installed everything. I'm not sure how important it is.

FijiNX If your saying that there hard drive was formated clean then reinstalled windows then the list are gone from that machine. Maybe they could still be on the server though if that is what they use. I think if you create a account through MS exchange server (Holding that thats what there using.) Shouldn't this download from server all settings and contacts? If they where not on server connection LAN then Im not sure there is anyway to retrieve them. Anyone else have ideas?
