I am running Exchange 5.5sp2 on WinNT Server 4.0sp4.

My client is Win95 running Office 97 Pro (With outlook 97 which is the current Mail reader) and IE 5.0 (Outlook express was installed with this then uninstalled).

I have reciently purchased an Office 2000 Premium license and am trying to upgrade Outlook 2000 only (I can't upgrade one person without upgrading everyone in the office to Office 2000 and we don't have the cash to do it yet.) When I install only Outlook 2000 it seems to install fine but it doesn't have the normal outlook backend. When I open the tools menu there is no "service" menu option and when I go to Control Panel/Mail/Properties it looks like the Outlook Express Properties minus the news tab.

I need to hook outlook up to my exchange server so you can see where not having a place to add the Exchange Server Service to Outlook can be a problem. Does anyone know why this is happening?

I have tried removing Outlook Express again, and removeing Outlook 97. I have tried installing Outlook 2000 from the Office 2000 Premium CD and from the Technet + "Outlook 2000 for Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 3" CD. I've even tried to completely wipe Office 97 off the drive and reinstall it. No matter what uninstalling or installing option I try I always get the Outlook Express look alike instead of the real Outlook.

I am in some really dire straits here and I am going to have a hard time selling Exchange as a viable option if I can't even get Outlook to work.

Thanks

Craig
