I am running OFFICE 2000 SP1 and when I am in Outlook, I try to open an attachment, it asks me to save it or open it and when I try to open it, it opens up an explorer window and when I try to save it to disk, it opens up the save box and I try to save it and it gives me an error message that says "Outlook cannot save the URL to a file. File name or directory name is not valid." This happens on every single file I have with an attachment. Has anyone ever seen this and is there a fix for it ? I have gone through just about every option to change and nothing is working for me.

How about tying to copy and paste it out of your email? ________

its probably a shortcut to a document that a user has put in the email, ie, instead of the attachment.
Is the link something like C:\windows\profiles\paul\desktop\attach.exe
if so then its pointing to a file on the senders PC and obviously its not on yours. Check the size of the attachment/link, it will be very small...
get the sender to re-send it and make sure the file is attached and not a link or shortcut to it...
sorry I just re-read your post and I see Im totally off the track!! if its ALL attachments then its a different story, (or else thats happening with them all!)
I cant think of much now...but if you can tell me what is the link/url/attachment called (with the extension) I might be able to help?? Jay~
