Outlook 2000 - Attachment Problem

I am using Outlook 2000 running on Windows XP SP2.

When composing an email the attachment pane won't appear when adding an attachment. Instead, it puts the file into the main body of the email. When the recipient receives the email they can't open the attachment.

Any ideas?

Another bit that might help...

At the same time this started happening the enevlope notification icon in the task bar disappeared. I managed to get it back though.

What mail format are you using? Have you tried sending in plain text, WITHOUT Word as your mail editor? What happens then?

Yes...send as plain text or HTML - not RTF.
