My outlook went blank today. I opened it, it opened (very slowly, but my mail wasnt coming it. I went to my SENT folder (very large) and tried to sort it by Date Received and outlook displays no messages.

I go to another folder and highlight a large message and try to permanently delete it and get this error message:

The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook.

I tried to move a mail message to the Archive folder and get this message "Can't move the items. The item could not be moved. It was either already moved or deleted, or access was denied.

Well i've restarted outlook and my computer and this keeps happening.

I'm guessing that my mailboxes are too full, i never archive and rarely delete. I'm trying to do both right now but unable to because outlook locks on me with the forementioned error messages.

What do I do? This email is my entire business and i'm frozen in time without it running!

i'm not sure if i understand the question right. this is my PC, i use it for work and for pleasure. it is in my home.

FYI your microsoft support link is not the same issue i am having. I am nearly certain my PST file is just too big for outlook to work properly in the folders that have the large messages. I cant even go in them now to delete large messages or archive. Can someone help me?

reconfigure your outlook through controlpanel

Hi,

Try clicking start, control panel, and double click on mail. (Ensure that MS Outlook is closed).

Then click on your mailbox and click delete. Make sure you know the details of your mailbox because you will need to re-add it. Keep clicking next til its done and then go through the same procedure again but this time add a MS Exchange Mailbox, type your server name is and your username and click next etc. Then try loading up Outlook to see if its any better.

Or... if you think its a size problem then you could always delete the PST from within Outlook and create a new one. PSTS are stored is: c:\document and settings\userprofile\application data\microsoft\outlook - check here that the PST exists in the first instance before you delete anything in outlook!!
