Hello,

I have a user on my network who upgraded his Win 98 machine to Win 2000. But he didn't uninstall an then reinstall Outlook 97 when he did this (your supposed to inorder for Outlook to work). When he tried starting up Outlook after Win2K was installed it gave an application error "Entry Point not found"...."Wnetcachepassword could no be located in the dll MPR.dll". Now I know this problem has to do with the Mapi and things. I looked on the MS web site for some details about it, and one suggestions was to copy the mapi32.dll from the Office 97 cd to the C:\winnt\system32. After I did this Outlook will start. But then another error comes up: "the mapi spooler has shut down unexpectdly. Close all mail applictions before logging back in." I realize this error is being caused becuase I now have a mismatch of files (mapi files etc.) Therefore I decided to uninstall Office completely and then reinstall. But here is my problem. When I go to "add/remove programs" I can't uninstall Office, I get an error "the drive that office was installed from is not there, unable to uninstall office" (or close to that) And if I put the office 97 cd back in, it does not come up with the option to add or remove. (therefore I don't think it is seeing any part of office).. I am not really sure what this user did to get his computer to this point. But can anybody help me with removing Office 97 completely from the computer. I can fix the rest of my problem from there!

Thanks, (sorry for the long read!)

Andrew
