Outllok 2003 Will Not Send Email with Attachments

I have a problem with two computers which started late last week. When the users send an e-mail with an attachment it will sit in the Outbox indefinately. It may eventually send, or it may not. No error messages are generated on the Exchange Server and none are generated on the Outlook Client.

One affected computer is a laptop and one is a desktop. Both are connected to the LAN via wireless connections. This is connected to the corporate WAN.

This appears to be a computer specific problem since no other computers in the office are affected and the laptop user has told me the same problem occurs even when he is connected via a LAN to the Exchange Server.

I have checked the network settings and they all appear to be correct.

Both computers are running Windows XP SP2.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

OK. Here is an update.

Attachments such as Word, Excel, etc. send find. PDF files stay in the Outbox. I have recreated the user's profile on their computer and created it on another with the same results.

Other users on the same computer are able to send PDFs just fine.

How about Delivery restrictions? Is the PDF file very large? I beleive the default config for Exchange is to not allow emails above 10MB's to be sent.

After going through several troubleshooting steps I think I might have found an answer.

When pinging with larger packets (greater than 1445 bytes) there is a 68% packet loss over the WAN. There is no loss on the LAN. My ISP and I will be starting troubleshooting this problem on Monday.
