Is it possible to ouline a dotted stroke of an object and retain the dots? Every time I try to outline the stroke the dotted line returns to a solid stroke. I just want to create a dotted boarder. Any help?

If you have a dotted/dashed stroke and you want an outline on that stroke, you can go to Object>Flatten Transparency and then you can apply another outline (stroke) to that. Is that what you were trying to do? You will, however, lose the ability to change the dots or dashes.

If you open the attributes panel you can duplicate the stroke so you have 2 strokes.
