Outline to install ASM with oracle 10gR2

Has anyone installed oracle ASM? I am sort of confused on what steps to take to install the instance. For example, I've installed asmLib and created/marked by disks to be added to a group. What is the next step? Install the software in its own home ==> run the dbca ==> create an asm instance ==> install oracle software in oracle home ==> create oracle database?

My goal is to use ASM and create a new database. Thanks.
