Hi,

Does anybody know of a plugin or tool that can can test my outgoing e-mails for a "spam score" before they are sent?

I use The Bat! e-mail client and the ideal solution would be a small service or plugin that can quickly test my outgoing e-mail and then stop the message from being sent if the score is higher than a specfied value?

I would be looking for something that can run under Windows XP / Vista.

Thanks in advance,

That's not going to happen. Some of what constitutes a "score" happens long after the message leaves the server (which is long after the message leaves the client). This includes IP Blocking, reverse DNS, SPF records, etc.

Thanks for replying 58sniper,

Are you saying that if my e-mail client was using such a plugin, it would not be able to connect to the Internet and make the checks that you have mentioned?

Why can't the plugin allow the user to input the SMTP server information? Most of the rest of the information comes from the e-mail itself.

Furthermore, the "score" could be based on the content and give an indication of the spam-score. Different receiving servers use different methods to assessing spam, so I am not expecting something that will guarantee a spam score for any particular server, I am looking for a plugin that can give a score based on as many criteria as possible.

Because the client has no knowledge of the public IP address that's being used by the mail server. Because the client has no knowledge of the MX record used by your domain. Because the client has no knowledge of any SPF records. The list goes on and on. There are far too many thing that are inspected outside of the words in the message.
