I have a firewall that redirects Email service(requests) to my internal Email server. I have exchange 2000 and a smart host going to a symantec gateway to filter out Viruses. I am trying to send email when i am remotely at my house in outlook express. I have Server Requires authentication checked and i enter my credentials. I am only able to receive email but i can't send email. Error message is The connection to the server has failed. Account:protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E. I am allowing smtp services in my rule that uses the pop3 service. I enable auth also on the smtp protocol. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks

You need to enable relaying. Be very very careful with this..you can get your server blacklisted. I would suggest using OWA for remote email access

Thanks, PAUL
