Outgoing Lines How?

I have been installing IP403's for about a year.
In the market we sell I need to guarantee a selective amount of outgoing lines.
If i have a ISDN30 with 8 channels, how can I programme the system to have 4 incoming/outgoing channels and 4 outgoing only channels. I have tried almost everything but still it alludes me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
?There's no direction choice on an E1 PRI.

You can set the number of channels and the number of channels available for outbound. If the latter is lower than the former then you've effectively reserved some channels to be incoming only.

However those outbound channels can still receive calls, eg. it doesn't work the other way round as Ant007 wants.
 
if you wish a line to be Outgoing only you MUST ensure that your line provider willnot attempt to send a call on this circuit.
this can only be achieved by talkig to the line provider.

My line provider is BT and If I've talked to them once about this I must of talked a 1000 times.
With a ISDN30e you can not separate channels or allocate specific numbers to individual channels.
The only choice is something called a DASS2 curcuit which you can separte and attach numbers to channels.
But BT supposedly have to give special permission to install this type of curcuit, and of course this still doesn't help me regarding my existing customer.

How about a seperate analogue line group as back up connecting via a daughter card?

You'd may even only need two lines as they would only ever be used if the other lines are busy. You can have these set to incomming only and have caller ID restricted to cover for the differnce in Caller ID from the ISDN30?
 
Put some of the channels on your E1 in line group 1, and the ones you want to reserve for outbound in line group 2. Create an incoming call route for line group 2, set the destination to a shortcode with a feature of busy. Use LCR to go out over line group 2 first, then 1 if busy (or vice versas if you REALLY want to give outbound extra priority)

Some channels in line group 2 (like the first 1 or 2) will occasionally get an inbound call, but only long enough for the caller to hear a busy signal and hang up, thus pretty much keeping them free for outbound.

Peter, Unfortunatly the people who require this sort of setup are usualy doing it for security reasons (banks have this so that it is not possible to busy out all lines before starting a bank raid).

Telesonics suggestion off an alog line would be my recomendation.

if it is fitted to a seperate module rather than an internal board it would also give the advantage of a power fail phone.

a DASSII circuit would be abale to achieve this but IPO does not support DASSII.

& for those of you outside UK

DASSII = Direct Access Signaling System (V2).
this was BT's own ISDN30 protocol, developed before the ETSI standard for Pri ISDN
