I cannot get MY Aria 250 to outcall to a digital pager. I can get her to outcall to cellphone. Are there any quick tips to get this to work. BTW I very new on Octel
Have you configured the pager types? This is a basic script that tells the Octel how to call and leave a page. From the Main Menu, press 6 then 1. Depending on the software version, it's going to be under the first page or the second.
It may take several attempts to create the proper dialing sequence. Here are a couple of examples:
PPPPPPPPP1PPPC#D
This will wait 18 seconds after dialing the number (the length of P is defined at the beginning of the screen in ms). It then dials 1 (for this pager that's the prompt to leave a numeric page) and wait another 6 seconds. It then dials the page (what ever is set in the mailbox's authorization code) followed by #. D then hangs up.
AC#P1P1P4300#P1P1PD
This was required to send to Nextels and took me several attempts to get it working right.
By pressing an invalid key (such as ?), the system will give you a list of all the codes you can use.
If this is all correct, let us know. I can then explain how to check the logs to see if the Octel is having problems sending the page.
In addition to the correct pager sequence, you must also change the 'pager type' prompt in the mailbox that will be outcalling from 'no paging' to 'pager sequence x' where x corresponds to the pager dialing sequence you set up in menu 6.1
On the Octel, there is a feature called Online CDR Utility. Go to menu 20.4.2 Put in a date range and the mailbox you are checking on. Once selected, select the P option.
The system will now being to display all logs related to that mailbox. When the system sends a page, it generates a OC log. I use this all the time if a user complains about not getting a page right after setting this up. If the log is missing, it means the user forgot to enable Outcall Notification or didn't setup their paging schedule correctly. The log will even tell you if it got a busy or other issue.
For the full details regarding all the logs, search Avaya's support site for Online CDR. The appendix of the guide will give you all the details about the log entries.
