I have Merlin Voice mail Version 1.2.2. I changed COS on an extension to 10 to enable outcalling. The user did the setup, and entered a number for outcalling, however it is not working. After a message is left on the extension, the user is not notified on his cell phone.

Thank you for your time and help.

Usually the culprit is the LAST PORT of the voice mail is RESTRICTED (Several Ways).

The Last VM Port does the outcalling and the Mesg Light function.

By default 1) it has not lines/pools assigned to it 2) it is OUTWARD RESTRICTED and 3) It is ARS RESTRICTED as well.

You must fix those restricting things for it to work.

I will need a little more help, how can check Last VM port, assing pools/lines etc.

Well, first we have to determine what The Extension is.

Go to Sys Prog > Exit > Extensions > More > Group Calling > Enter the VM Calling group Number > Members and then touch INSPECT.

That should show the Extensions.

Then go to Sys Prog > Exit > Extensions > Restrictions > Enter the Ext Number of the LAST Member of the VM Calling Group and set it to UNRESTRICTED.

Then go to Sys Prog > Exit > Extensions > More > ARS Restriction > Enter the Ext Number of the LAST Member of the VM Calling Group and set it to 3.

You may have to assign lines to it, but if you just dial 9 to go out, you may not need to.

You can test it by connecting a Sinle Line Phone to the Port and see if you can dial out.

You may also want to be sure to include "9" in your dialstring, because the VM port will default to SA dialtone. In order to initiate more control, I have built an allowed list for 2nd, 4th or 5th and 6th port, to include the first 6 digits of the 10 digit outcalling number.

So, it should be extension 195 correct? I did as told, still not working. However, I noticed that Extension 195 is also listed in a disallowed List # 7, with no entries in disallowed list itsef.

A DIRECT GROUP CALLING INFORMATION

I have removed extension 195 from the dis-allowed list, didn't work. I also tried to creat an 'allowed' list with first 6 digits. No luck. I have also tried with and without 9, (we use 9 for all outbout calls), didn't work. Am I missing someting? I have access to SPM in case anyone would like to view any reports.

Thank you,

also, make sure the exts. in the voicmail hunt group are 'rotary enabled', (i think that is what it was called). they have to be in order for outcalling to work, in addition to the other things listed here.

thanks, tim

What happens when you connect a Single Line Set to the Port?

Can you call the Cell Phone?

Can you monitor with a Test Set?

There is not port on the 007 MLM Card to plug single line phone. It has only lights for VM1 through VM6, so please guide me how can I test or monitor the port.

Yes, I can call the cell phone by dialing the number through any extension.

Please guide me how to monitor with the test set.

In the hunt group, I have only three options:
Linear
Circuilar
Most Idle.

I was unaware this was an MLM-007.

Of course, there is no way to listen with a test set.

In this case, the next thing to do is print 195 and see what that shows.

EXTENSION INFORMATION

On a 6 port MLM ports 5 AND 6 are used for outcalling.

Make sure that your ARS restrict level is 3 and outward restriction is not on for extention 194 too.

It looks like 195 is good to go, Just check 194

That did the trick, it is working now.

One last thing; is there a way that I can restrict outcalling to a certain are code only (using allowed, disallowed lists). I have tested by appling disallowed list number 7, and this prevents calls to 0, 011 numbers etc.

List : 7

Entry 0: 0
Entry 1: 10
Entry 2: 11
Entry 3: 1809
Entry 4: 1700
Entry 5: 1900
Entry 6: 1976
Entry 7: 1ppp976
Entry 8: *
Entry 9: ------------
ACCESS TO DISALLOWED LISTS

I wish to restrict outcalling to one area code only.

You can Outward restrict the outcalling ports of the voicemail and using the AllowList & AllowTo You can "overide" just one area code.

Fron the manual:
Used in conjunction with calling restrictions (outward and toll), an allowed list identifies numbers that the caller is allowed to dial, despite restrictions. For example, an allowed list assigned to an outward-restricted extention can allow calls to specific local numbers, such as 911 or toll numbers. For toll restricted extentions, an allows list can allow calls to specific area codes and/or exchanges needed for daily tasks

Try it on a real extention and when it works the way you want, apply it the the outcalling ports.

Got you. I think I will be able to do that.

Thank you very much ttech, merlinman and eveyone else for your help and time.
