Hi,

I have an Octel 250, Aria 3.0. We have had systematic problems with our outcall notification not working properly as part of the pages are not received by the same pager (I believe this may be due to port configuration changes). In the meantime, I wanted to try testing the alias feature to send notifications to as the Forward feature is not installed (I "inherited" the telecom engineer position with less than 2 wks experience so am somewhat a newbie on it). Any ideas if this will work or any other suggestions?

Thanks!
Laura

I worked with Octel systems for quite a while before I retired, so I may be able to help. When you say part of the pages are not received by the same pager, what exactly do you mean? Are some pages received and others not received? Or, is part of the number you have programmed to appear in the pager screen missing?

You could have port configuration problems, or you may not have enough ports configured for paging to support the paging load. You also may have problems with the paging sequece you use for interacting with the paging system. Do you have on-line CDR available? If so, this might help you find out what the problem is.

On the Alias Address...As far as I know that is usable only for routing inbound calls or intra/inter system messages (sent by using Option 2 from the main menu) to the proper mailbox. I don't know a way to use it for outcalls
