We currently have a Rightfax server connected to our PBX for inbound faxes (using CDP to foward DID's to the T-1 that's connected to the faxserver).

Now I'm trying to setup the server to send outbound faxes through the PBX, and I'm a bit stuck. The current error message we received is "dial tone after dialing".

How do I get the PBX to take a call from the faxserver, and forward it out of the PBX??

We have an 81C on Rls 25.40.

IF YOU WANT DIALTONE TO THE FAX SERVER SET DIALTONE YES IN THE RDB, IF YOUR NOT DIALING A 9 FROM THE FAX SERVER JUST THE NUMBER LOOK FOR INST AND PLACE A 9 THERE

Seems like I'm getting closer...

However now I'm getting a fast busy message when attempting to fax. I incresed the ncos on the T-1 trunk, but that didn't seem to help.

DO YOU HAVE TRUNK TO TRUNK ALLOWED IN THE CDB

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

Is that TRNX under NET_DATA?

If so, that's set to no.

NO IT'S EXTT, SHOULD BE SET TO YES

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

ALSO MAKE SURE THAT THE NCOS YOU CHANGED THE TIE TRUNKS TO IS HIGH ENOUGH TO CALL LD. IF YOU HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR PHONE TO THAT NCOS AND TRY TO CALL LD

NCOS 7 is our highest level...

1ST IS THE FAX SERVER DIALING 9,IF NOT YOU NEED TO INSERT IT IN THE RDB
2ND TRY CHANGING YOUR TGAR ON THE TIE TRUNKS TO ZERO

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

ALSO CHANGE YOUR DSEL IN THE RDB TO VCE

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

ALSO CHANGE YOUR SEARCH TO RRB INSTEAD OF LINEAR, AND CHANGE NEDC AND FEDC TO ETH

getting closer...

the fax server is dialing the 9.

we got it to dial an extension, but when sending a fax we recieved (from the fax server) "line broken, no loop current"

I'm going to try to set the trunk to loop start and see what happens...

YOUR T1 TRUNKS SHOULD BE SET UP FOR 4 WIRE AND E&M SIGNALING

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

I changed supervision to yes, and that seemed to do the trick!

We're in business, thanks so much for your help!

one more question - what pitfalls do I need to be aware of now that we're allowing trunk to trunk transfers?

IF YOU HAVE DID'S INCOMING KEEP THERE NCOS AT 0 OR JUST HIGH ENOUGH TO MAKE LOCAL CALLS,AND MAKE SURE IF YOU HAVE MAIL THAT THE OUTCALLING IS LOCAL ONLY.
BASICALLY I'VE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH HACKING, BUT JUST REMEMBER YOU DID OPEN YOURSELF UP A LITTLE BIT
