Mitel 3300 4.1 We have a device on an analog port that we call into using a DID number. When we dial the device from an outside POTS line, the device receives DTMF tones from us, but we can not any hear DTMF tones generated by the device. We can hear other sound generated by the device (voice prompts). The tones are being generated by our device, and the strange thing is that when we dial in using a cell phone (AT&T) we can hear the DTMF tones from the device.

You don't mention anything about the trunks, so I'll assume some TDM trunk.

A test I would try. Replace your device with a POTS phone and call in, answer and press a digit and see if your caller can hear the tone. I would also try calling your device from a local POTS phone and see how it behaves.

Just curious, what kind of 'device' would be required to play out a digit?

We are working to test with a POTS phone when the tech is on site this week. The device is a telephone line remote load on hold player manufactured by Premier Technologies in MN. We have replaced the player with a known good one, no change in the operation.

The 3300 will definitely not block a tone from the device if it is played out as audio. Have you tried from a number of different external sets/lines? My guess is that it's the telco or the phone that is masking the tones.

I took at look at the units, and I still can't see the application for the device to send OUT the tones. Can you give the scenario? Again, not relevant, just curious.
