Hi,

I've got a 1721 router with WIC1-ADSL card and keep seeing the above message once every minute on mu DLS line (got debugs on for ppp negotiation and authentication). Is this message anything to worry about, is it meant to happen and if so, why?

May 1 19:44:42.137: Vi2 PPP: Outbound cdp packet dropped
May 1 19:45:42.137: Vi2 PPP: Outbound cdp packet dropped
May 1 19:46:42.137: Vi2 PPP: Outbound cdp packet dropped
May 1 19:47:42.136: Vi2 PPP: Outbound cdp packet dropped

I have CDP enabled on my network (which I want to leave on) as it's useful with all my kit.

Thanks,

Sahajesh.

You don't want to send CDP out serial interfaces into the outside world.

go to that interface and type:

router(config-if)#no CDP enable

which will switch off CDP on that interface.

Thanks for that - turned on the SDM firewall features now anyway so no doubt they've stopped but will check.

Cheers,

Sahajesh.
