We just had a Nortel PBX Meridian 1 Option 81C installed on May 30th. The accounting dept has brought to my attention that we are getting unusual high phone bills. For example I had an Attorney who had a conference call with 2 people, one in NY and the other in New Mexico on a Friday. Somehow the call never got disconnected until that Monday morning total of 72hours.
I am now starting to research, finding other calls that have like 36hrs.
SBC said that if you initiate a conference call and put your phone on hold, when the other parties hangup, you will still have the line open. Has anyone else run into this problem. Its hard for me to believe that if the other parties hangup that call does not terminate on the initiator side.

Check your route data block, make sure your far end disconnect is set to eth and youe near end disconnect is set to eth

Unkalary,
Since I'm a beginner Admin. What are the commands to check the block?

go to ld 21 and prt rdb
then go to ld 16 and <cr> down to cntrl and enter yes
at the nedc enter eth
at the fedc enter eth
<cr> to end
then make a call and trace it and verify

Make sure you know the route number when you go to LD 21 and do the print.

If you have to change it go to LD 16 and make the changes there
