Can someone explain to me what conditions need to be met on the BCM and Telco side in order to make "Send Display Name" to work on a PRI ckt? Or at the very least, be able to manipulate outbound ANI. I'm more interested about the telco side as I'm fairly sure what needs to be done from a BCM perspective.
 
Don't know who you have as a provider but normally they are set to send out a name on every call unless they get something from the BCM.

First, you have to check the "Send Name Display" box in the PRI configuration, second put in the number in the extension's OLI that you want to display (assuming you want to display one) and third, you have to put a name in the Business Name box. You can put in up to 8 characters which includes spaces so if you want a space between te last letter and the number you need to restrict it to seven characters plus a space.

With those three things set, you should override the Telco's name and number display. This is assuming your telco is even set up to accept this stuff from you. Most are these days but you never know. If in doubt, a quick call to their test board will sort that out.

I guess the second part of your answer is really my question. Say I'm in the market for a PRI and one of the features I'm looking for is the name and number display override. Is it as simple as asking the various service providers if they support that function?
 
Pretty much. All you need to do is ask them if you send a name and number, will it override what they send. It's been a while since I've come accross a provider that wouldn't allow it.
